Community development
Some of the things we are doing in this area include:
ICE Project
The Inclusion, Communication and Events (ICE) project works with residents to develop a sense of community in Braunstone by: Supporting and encouraging the development of neighbourhood groups, and enabling individuals to be involved in what happens in the community. Providing news and information to residents across Braunstone, for example, through the Alert! Working with local groups and residents to develop events that will benefit the whole community.
Community Grants
Grants to set up and support local community groups, activities or facilities.
Street Vibe The StreetVibe project provides an outreach service – including the Youth bus and Youth forum – to develop the confidence and influence of young people in Braunstone.
Youth House
A brand new building to house activities for young people in the area. Combined with the redevelopment of the park, the Youth House will include Changing Rooms and link through to the new multi-use games arena.
Our goal is to:
Build the ability of residents and young people to influence the issues that affect them, and the
confidence to use their influence.
By 2008, we aim to ensure that:
- A third of Braunstone residents are engaged in community groups.
- 50% of young people are engaged in personal and social development activities.
Key Partners include:
