Crime and community safety

Crime and community safety
Some of the things we are doing in this area include:

Improved Policing

Working with the Leicestershire Constabulary, a total of six beat officers now serve the Braunstone area.

Combating Anti-Social Behaviour

CCTV cameras have been installed across the estate and two dedicated officers have been provided to investigate and combat anti-social behaviour.

SCORE (Stop Crime On R Estate) for Sport

A programme of activities to get young people (11-19 year olds) involved in sport to help reduce boredom and prevent vandalism and crime

Safer Homes

A full home security package including locks, bolts and smoke alarms for every house in the ‘New Deal’ area. ‘When I heard about the scheme I thought what a wonderful idea it was. We had garden furniture stolen two years ago and so we wanted to make the most of it. This will help to cut down on all sorts of crime – it makes you feel much safer in your home.’
Bob Mawby of Gunthorpe Road

  • 75% of residents feel safe in the community
